Also in November, the 9th German Visual FoxPro DevCon was again a great success, especially as it was extended this year first time from 3 to 4 days - offering a total of 90 different sessions with most of them held twice. They had a convincing quality enhancement with a change of the average of all session evaluations from last year to this year by 0,2 (in their system of 1-best to 6-lowest score) to 1.75 and a great above average and best time ever value of 1.5 for Ken Levy's keynote. From the organizers point of view it was also very important that the negative effects of recession with companies sending less attendees was counterweighted by the highest number ever of first-time-attendees resulting in a plus of 3% in revenues. This year they failed to integrate the German SQL-Server DevCon - but hope to do so next year with a planned increase of 18,5 %. As you see even in a economic crisis growth is possible with Microsoft Visual FoxPro. Rainer Becker, the host of the event, wish to thank all speakers, all attendees and the great Visual FoxPro team for making this positive result possible. They are already looking ahead for next year event.
More for the user group community
On August 7, 2002, the Universal Thread has released a special promotion for the user group community. In regards to similar promotions which were happening on a regular basis for such events and other related conferences, the Universal Thread was happy to work on something more official. The special promotion was intended to globally be announced to all user group leaders with a set of standard procedures in order to be eligible for it. The special promotion went well. Over 100 meetings have been registered for it from user groups from all around the world.
The Universal Thread recognizes the ongoing interest and evolution of user group communities around the world and is happy to provide services like that including its renown User Group Meeting Tracker. This site is gathering related user group content and is helping in their promotion. We have worked with several user group leaders since its debut in order to deliver and continuously improve that site. We are focusing to continue its ongoing improvement and anyone is invited to send us any comment about it.
Over the last few months, we have collected several emails about comments and suggestions for this ongoing evolution. We also exchanged calls with some user group leaders who were able to express their POV, support and recommendations for keeping and increasing its success. In the last month, some procedures have started in regards to that. As you might have seen in some Universal Thread sites (see the below paragraph), the User Group Meeting Tracker site is also in an enhancement mode to deliver its content faster, simpler, fancier and within its own dedicated layout and environment.
An enhanced look for easability of access
Recently, the Universal Thread has enhanced a few sections of its site. Among various avdantages this offers, it provides an enhanced easability of access of the related items within a specific content. Faster to download the pages, the new layout provides a dedicated look in regards to the content within a professional layout. Already a leader in most of its content, the Universal Thread now offers a greater environment to navigate within the related content. This applies to the UTMag/RapoZine magazine site, the Universal Thread Onsite Coverages site and soon to be completed, the Visual FoxPro Zone site.
