The Universal Thread reporting team will be on site for both events for the official coverage. Claudio Lassala will report on the West Wind Web Connection event and will team up with Mark McCasland for the Great Lakes Great Databases Workshop 2002 event. Our first report starts on November 14 and will be followed by regular coverage until the 20th.
From the Universal Thread
In the last month, we have proceeded with more enhancements on the Universal Thread. One interesting enhancement came in the account setup. From suggestions from several members and to our own observations on how the option was used over the last year, we made some small adjustments which provide a better understanding and accessibility for managing your account setup. Now available also when being outside the messages area, from the main site menu, the new layout provides a cleaner environment for managing your account in regards to your basic options, your PUTM options, your invoicing, your Premier Universal Thread Membership and for those having banners on the site.
Also in the work, we are working on many enhancements in the Visual FoxPro Wish List. Microsoft representatives and a few members from the Visual FoxPro forum are helping us in that area. As Visual FoxPro 8 is under way, there is a need to revise the actual entries for removing those which have been approved for that version, for removing duplicates, for delivering a better list of areas and sub areas, some enhancements in the data entry form, the ability to rate the importance of a wish entry and many other nice improvements. That should be released during this month.
Done in the last week, was the release of a change of structure in the way the voting process was working in regards to our single survey interface. The single survey interface allows Universal Thread members to vote on a single question which occurs occasionally during the year on various topics. Instead of having a popup window to appear after the login, the survey is displayed permanently on the main page and allows a direct view results option.
From the magazine
As for the magazine, this month should also include the release of a nice addition in regards to the article distribution. All technical articles will also be available in a full length format in one and only HTML page making it easier for reading and printing purposes. Our actual format is great. It provides the ability to read the magazine and manipulate it as any regular magazine publications but the ability to have full length articles will also be a great plus. As it is the case for the offline version, this additional format will only be available from our store on a article selection basis.
The magazine is now registered officially under ISSN 1705-0197. This is a standardized registration which allows us to enter into the global publication catalogs around the world, and to be able to be properly catalogued at any library. Among several benefits, it can be used by the authors as a "formal" reference to be awarded academic points (for examples) when they publish articles.
