You're right, the RANGE clause doesn't apply to preview mode. About the only thing that I can suggest in this regard would require that each object on the report contain a Print When condition, with remove if blank checked. Something like BETWEEN(_PAGENO, firstpage, lastpage). Really a big kludge, if you ask me.
