FWIW I do not remember anything remotely like this from Tore before. If I were asked to name a genuinely nice and undramatic person here he might be the one who came to mind. It was an ugly thing for him to say, we are in agreement there, but let's all please let it go. Tore apologizing to John for getting carried away would probably put it to rest.
