Obtain a copy of the MSDN Library CD set - there are well over 2000 basic functions in the Win32 Platform SDK alone. If you have a copy of any of several Visual Studio, VFP6 or VB6 versions, you may be qualified to get a 1 year subscription to the MSDN library for free - search the FAQ here on UT; I've posed a list there of qualifying products and where to contact Microsoft regarding ordering the Library subscription if you qualify.
Even if you have to purchase the subscription, the wealth of detail more than justifies the expense; it includes the docs for all of the MS OS products, the SDKs and DDKS, a number of whitepapers, backgrounders, even e-copies of some MS Press titles. It also includes the all-important product resource kits.
