>Can anyone offer some suggestions and/or reasons for using an installer other than the one that comes with VFP6? I know it's simple and limited, but I guess what I'm curious about is, what more would a product like InstallShield offer that you would consider really important?

I use IS Express, its cheap fast and works well. IS Pro is expensive and pretty powerful, but its not soemthign you hop right on and have a setup in minutes. These 3rd parties let you do things like installation types, post setup executables (and anywhere in the middle for IS Express), advertising bill boards, self registration for DLLs and OCXes, give you Program Menu options, registry control, system INI stuff. Good deal.

It doens't allot post setup executable files, which is pretty lame, but they reason it farily well. VSI can let you rollback the entire system to before the install, somehting which could be impossible because of post setups exes.
