I'm using the OLEDB provider for SQL Server...it is made for anybody who can get to it, in this case through ADO.

You are probably thinking of the new OLEDB provider for VFP, which is coming with VFP7. It will allow non-VFP apps (like VB, or whatever) to get to VFP data *without* having to go through the ODBC layer.
