Rick,

Yup, the actual calculation would be:
lnfilesize = HEADER() + (RECSIZE() * RECCOUNT() + 1)

I am satisfied that I cannot rely of FOPEN to get the file size because there are too many circumstances where it does not return a file handle. If I set COMPATIBLE ON then FSIZE() is supposed to return the size of a file. Does anyone know what mechanism FSIZE uses to return file size? Would it be reliable in local area network situations. I am comparing the return from FSIZE to the computation of file size based on RECCOUNT and RECORDSIZE. Thanks.
