>I'm not sure if VFP10 will be but it seem to microsoft drives VFP to a deadend. Maybe after VFP9 maybe after VFP10. They want to be see VFP programmers in .NET so they adding VFP features to .NET

There will have to be something to replace it (if it is not already available) then. Most of the market is not enterprise. I can see Net in enterprise. But Net will never be for one off mom and pop solutions or the broad niche market solutions - and that market is about 90% of the users.

To slow - expensive db management requirements. Just putting a cursor object in Net does not mean anything to anyone outside "enterprise" user base. It won't make Net a substitute for VFP. It's a small market.

THere are privacy issues too. Here in the US there are millions of corporate XP users - yet, according to recent survesy, less than 150 thousand have upgraded to XP SP-2. The reasons are related to Java and privacy. We all remember what was inside the "horse" after the gates of Troy closed behind it:-)

MS wants to create appearance of a large NET market (as do tier and framework vendors we see on this venue) - but it is really just the old VB/ADO/SQL market. They are doing all they can to move product. And despite their efforts - things are preety much the same as they were.

I for one would welcome someone other than MS as the custodian of xBase - xBase has a bright future - is doing well - despite all the gas!
