>Any language that can create COM object's can be used in the middle tier. J++ is not what I call a high level language, which doesn't mean it isn't a good language it just isn't as easy to write stuff in as VFP or VB.

The Microsoft PDC (Professional Developers Conference) is going on this week in Denver. I have access to watch various sessions and keynotes via Netshow, and I'm now watching/listening to the Paul Gross session on building DNA apps. He mentioned VFP when listing VS tools his group is working on, and in a demo of building a multi-tier app, VFP was mentioned as one of the tools you can use in building middle tier components. Basically, I have yet to hear VFP not listed where it should be. In fact, it was listed where it shouldn't be, and that is in reference to new VS6 tools have intellisense (without mention that VFP6 doesn't have it). <s> There is a KB article out (or coming soon) which explains why VFP6 doesn't have intellisense, basically explaining the issues of a totally non-typed language that is late binding, etc.

Another note. The code name for VS6 was Aspen, and Paul Gross mentioned that the next version release of Visual Studio is code named Rainier (named after the big mountain near Seattle) and he said it will ship within 60 days after NT5. You can put info to use in those theads where developers like to pick ship dates and other predictions instead of gambling on-line. <g>
