Which is about half of welfare recipients -- people who for one reason or another are not really capable of holding a full time job. The stereotype of lazy bums who would rather freeload than work is inaccurate. Sure, there are some like that, but they are not everyone by any means.

>I'm all for workfare. If the poor need help, make them work for it. That's what happened in the Great Depression. Even if it's the government paying them. But handouts should end for most. There are extenuating circumstances. Physically or mentally disabled come to mind.
