I pretty much enjoyed watching River going to the "B League", now out of the big five teams of Argentina (Boca Juniors, River Plate, Independiente, Racing and San Lorenzo) only Boca and Independiente are the only teams that played in the "A League" since its inception, and Boca cheated big time when they changed the rules mid-tournament (1984?) to save them (and Condemn Racing in the process) (and in their history they almost lost their category several times) so, for me Independiente (MY team :) is the only team that always played in the "A League" :)

By the way, I've been in worst riots when I used to go to watch Independiente, 3 that I remember were:

My fist time in a Stadium, my poor brother (fan of Racing, arch-enemies of Independiente as they are in the same city (Avellaneda) and with their respective stadiums separated by a couple of blocks) took me to watch an Independiente - Racing match (we went to the Independiente side, so my brother hide both his sadness when we score and his happiness when they score, otherwise his life would have been at risk.) That match ended with one person dead in the riots at the end of the game (1-1 tie).

The second one I went with a friend, and when I saw the police mobilizing (we were with the worst hooligans, as we always liked to watch the match were they were) I told my friend to leave, and while walking to the door a crying-gas grenade passed right in front of us and hitted some fan's face, later we learned that someone lost his eye (and of course there was a big riot afterwards)

And the third one that comes to mind is a game in the city I used to live as student (La Plata) were Independente played against one of the local teams, Estudiantes, one block away from my house, there was the fist time that the Police hit me with the batons, shoot in my general direction, hit me with their horses and then the mob from the other team tried to catch me.

Good times!!
