I don't watch CNN unless there's some kind of catastrophe. They seem to cover them well.
I think Joe is fully culpable, but probably for different reasons than CNN.
Way back, when Joe was chair of the Foreign Relations committee, he fully supported the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.
In retrospect both were huge blunders but I can recall the frenzied mood of the country after 9/11. I was living on Long Island then and could see the smoke plumes from my office window for weeks after the attack.
I was angry and anxious for some kind of action and so was the rest of the country.
It was a time that called for great leadership, and we never got it, unfortunately.
Once Afghanistan was invaded, the outcome we saw today became inevitable.
In many ways the outcome in Iraq was worse.
A Muslim friend told me recently that there are almost a million war widows in Afghanistan. What we see today pales in comparison to the devastation we brought to that country and that region- all for naught.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
