I have an application with a table with 8 million records which is consulted continiously and I have still reasonable performance. The server holding this table is only a P133. VFP handles this with relative ease. I have the impression that it's in first instance the client machine (if you're working in network) that determines the speed, rather than the fileserver (I didn't say the server isn't important ...)
