Jim,

Someone (was it John?) pointed us to the Interface Hall of Fame and Shame a few days ago. I found it very enlightening and entertaining. Having a button be grey until the mouse passes over it is a perfect example of a misfeature, it must have been fun to code but it is worse than useless.

If I'm not mistaken, this is a fundamental violation of GUI design. Also it had a feature that the button has no border or bevel until the mouse passes over it, and then it "turns into" a button. Seemed kind of pointless.
