Using any tables over a modem sounds risky to me!

I've seen weird things happen in FOX apps over the years, so I was surprised to see the suggestion to just USE a file! ( too many locking issues seem to arise! )

Would it not be better to use SQL commands and cursors , rather than risk problems by having files open , given the wretched state of telecommunications these days ? Most of our clients seem to routinely globally enable call waiting on all phone lines, and LATER disable it for those who scream loudest! And the smaller clients won't spend the money to put a UPS on the modems & phone equipment !

Or has VFP improved enough to resolve these issues? I somehow doubt it becasue even with all the updates in place, I still have to exit VFP to get it to release some files when I am debugging and need to rebuild a project, or even to save methods & recompile prg's !

just ranting, I hate mondays,
