DOS software was character based and so-called Windows software is graphics based. Character based requires fewer resources to run. Memories of a truly slow system in 1995 incorporated CodeBook and VFP 3.0 on a then state of the art 100mhz CPU. Now that was slow! My wife correctly stated, “You will never be satisfied with the speed of any computer”!
Now that I think of it I did see a Cray Computer that looks promising! :)
