I've found VSS to be a great tool. Make sure you apply the Visual Studio SP3 patch to both VFP and VSS to ensure you have the latest version of everything.

You'll need 3 licenses for 3 programmers. You might want to consider upgrading your copies of VFP to Visual Studio. That way you'll get VB, Visual InterDev, C++, J++ and a few other tools.
