Where can I get DETAILED information on SQLPREPARE().

I am having trouble executing long select statements, but if I shorten them I can sometimes get them to work. For example as query such as [SELECT na_id, na_liid, na_addr1, na_addr2, na_lname, na_fname, na_state, na_city, na_zipplus, na_ctid, na_country FROM name] might fail with no error message while [SELECT * FROM name] would work.

What I REALLY need is a good detailed document exposing the inner workings of SQLPREPARE.
