If you do not use the form designer, and go with the coded method, don't you then have to set all properties manually? e.g., the location of the control (top, left), the width, colors, controlsource, etc. What a pain. I can't picture this mentally to be able to code all this so it looks OK on a form. So I do this part with the designer. The rest I code, so I have reached a "happy medium."

If you are missing something, so am I...it is my understanding that all the controls would have to be coded....unless in the form class re-positions everything at run time...but that could get complicated when you want forms that are not using your standard layout...
