>Which book did you decide on? Some time ago I went with 'PHP and MySQL for Dynamic Web Sites' by Larry Ullman, mostly because I like the Visual QuickPro series it's part of....

I got "Creating Interactive Websites with PHP and Web Services" by Eric Rosebrock (Sybex). It's pretty thin on good architectural advice, but had lots of good samples of various approaches to scripts and templates (.PHP file including an HTML file with embedded PHP bracketed expressions), and I liked that approach for separation of UI and logic.

Also, the typefaces for text and code listings were more pleasing to the eye than a few others I looked at, and I didn't want a huge reference-type of book with this being a super-urgent project.

This book also goes into the XML tools in PHP by showing how to interact with the Amazon and PayPal web services, and I may need that info on the next project for this client.

So, there was some logic in the book selection, but it was about 50% "just pick one and get on with it."

I did look again last night at the book store and saw a big thick tutorial that DOES go into more detail about classes and OOP architecture with PHP, so I'll probably end up getting that one. Don't remember the title.
