Well written, Rick.

I'm in the same position as you and most people who run their own company, and my standpoint has always been the same. I always talk about what I can offer, without mentioning what my competitors have to offer. If my customers ask me directly and ask what's my strength compared to a specific competitor, I always say that you can't compare apples and oranges, and talk about what I feel is my strength. I never say a negative word about my competitors, and if I am asked, I usually say that I have not heard anything negative about them, but that I prefer to talk about my own strength so that my customers can judge for themselves. This attitude has given me many customers over the years, because they prefer the honesty. Talking badly about your competitors will usually backfire.

By the way, isn't it time for you to renew your picture? <s>

>Opinions are fine. Misrepresentation and making unsubstantiated claims are not. You've shown again and again that you DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT esepcially in regards to other products. You can't go around making claims about things that you have never used, don't understand or have tested. What you are doing is essentially slanderous.

>Take a look around you here. There are at least two other vendors (West Wind and AFP) who have been co-existing and competing amiably for many years. There's never been any adversarial problem like this because the folks at ProLib have a good product and they market and mention their products without havign to resort to bad mouthing other competitors. As far as competition goes trust me ProLib is a much bigger fish than you. They will point out considered flaws but it's usually informed information and that's not a problem - heck that's in any market and one way to weed out the bad seeds.

>>Look, I'm expressing opinion here. You've come out as an authority on many things that have been misleading that have had far greater impact on developers. Instead of accusing me of things, stick to the facts. What I want is to take advantage of what's in VFP already, not be lead to believe that I should buy wwc because of all the inadequacies you've told everybody are in the native vfp web technologies. I'm out to prove you can create great web apps with vfp without having to buy your product and I guess it scares you!!

>Bullsh*t. You go around spouting misrepresented facts about WWWC and AFP and whatever else over and over again. When somebody calls you on that you just ignore it and do it again a couple of weeks later at the next best opportunity.
