Yes, I remember Miami Beach very well. On the conference evaluation I wrote "I feel robbed!". After a few hours I left the conference room, wrote a complaint to the Advisor team, and went to the beach, a much higher value for me than the conference itself. It was my most expensive trip to the beach ever!
Interesting. I remember that Andy and I gave some well-meaning advice to Jennifer Phillips after the conference was over. We suggested that Advisor send an e-mail to the attendees apologizing for their bad judgement and offer a $200 rebate on the 2001 conference if they would come back next year and give Advisor a chance to show them that they could still put on a good conference.
Obviously, as you well know, they did not take our advice. 2001, in spite of the events of 9-11, was really good conference. But Devcon had 1200 attendees in Miami in 200 and only 750 in San Diego in 2001.
Gee, I wonder why....
