>I have been down that road many times. It is my favorite mountain pass. I lived in that area for years - around GJ, Montrose, Delta, Ouray, Silverton, Durango, Pagosa Springs, and Telluride. Gunnison is beautiful also. I worked in Aspen for awhile and even once lived at a boyscout camp near Ward, CO called Camp Tahosa. I don't think it belongs to the scouts anymore though. It was right next to Carabou Ranch where Chicago records at their mountain retreat. I love that area. Given the choice I would have stayed! Too bad there isn't a beach there as well, oh well, you can't have everything!

Small world isn't it. I have hunted north of Gunnison almost every fall for the past 25 years. We usually vacation in colorado in the Summer too. Last year we took our week in a timeshare in Avon. We've been to Steamboat, Breckenridge and Frisco many times with our timeshare and enjoyed it thoroughly. My son and I usually take in a Broncos preseason game while we're there. The rest of the time we spend riding dirt bikes and 4 wheelers all over the mountains, or trout fishing, sight-seeing and hiking. Some years we go north to Yellowstone and once many years ago my wife and I drove all the way to Jasper, Alberta. Talk about God's country! I'd love to do that again. Maybe when I retire.

All this started when I went on a ski trip with YoungLife as a freshman in college. We stayed at a place called SilverCliff, which is near Bueana Vista and Salida. We skied Monarch for a week and I was hooked on Colorado and real mountains!
