Yes, it's themes. VFP7 doesn't support them. You've to turn them off in order to change backcolor.

I have an application that uses a pageframe with one of the pages set to a backcolor to make it standout when certain conditions are present. The form works fine when I run it in VFP 7 but I cannot get the backcolor to change when I run it under VFP9. I have tried changing the various color control settings (colorsource) to tell it to use the object's color settings but to no avail. The PC's theme is set to windows XP modified. If I set it to windows classic the form will work OK in VFP 9. So the problem seems to be a combination of the theme and VFP 9.
