Hello Doug,

>One of the things that SDT does is preserve the field position when a table is updated at another site. So, if you add a new field in the middle of a table, that's where that field will be added to other copies of the table when you use SDT's Update.

That's useful - it's ok passing structure-change messages to/from one other developer on the same project, but I can imagine that if there are a number of installations to update SDT could save time.

I still can't understand why SELECT * ... should require the fields to be in the correct order. Once all fields have been selected from a table, surely it shouldn't matter what order they are in (as long as fields aren't referred to by number or order, eg. GATHER FROM ARRAY or FIELD()).

Regards,
Alan
