I feel like a rank amateur for asking this but I have not found the answer I am looking for through searches. The answer is probably so easy, but I have yet to find it.

I would like to get the empty value for a given variable type. In other words, if a given variable is numeric, the function would return 0, for character it would return "", and so on. I could write a function with a case statement on the VARTYPE() but I thought VFP might have some sort of native functionality.

Thanks for you help.
