yes thanks!
>>From time to time users attempt to access the same record at the same time which is a no-no. I want to institute a hotkey or something that gives a picture of what users is in what record. Is there any ideas about doing this?
>>I have already thought of creating a temp file everytime a user opens a record and having that file read into the hotkey scheme. Then the temp file would be removed when the user lets go of that record. Any other ideas?

>Tim,
>We do it with a user table holding all authorized users. Users are requred to enter a name and password to enter the system. The name and password along with the PC's Windows Computer Name is held in the user table (encrypted of course) which stays open. (see below.) Then on certain tables, when they lock a record, we store the key from the user table in the locked record. If that user's PC crashes we know who it is and can clear any records by looking for the user key when they log back in. If the user can open the user table exclusive (remember all users keep the table open) then we know they are the only one in the system and we know we can clear all lock keys.
