>Am I missing something ? Indexed or unindexed, filtered or nonfiltered all FP (and xBase) table records have a recno() by default. And those record numbers are unique whether you browse your table indexed or unindexed. "Tied to recno()" classes which should deal with only one record at a time would of course work. Trace your code again well.

Cetin,
You are right, I misunderstood the role of recno() in Arnon's code. It's all working perfectly now. Thanks all for your help.

David
