Totally with you there Tracy. I have 2 daughters: 5 and 9. Hint: drag his lifeless body somewhere else and don't call the police (and hope that the CSI team aren't on the case :-)

What you say? a 13 year old daughter? That must be an old picture of you then! :-)

>I remember a story last year about a house that was broken into in the middle of the night. Three sisters were watching a movie in a separate room when a man broke into the house. One of them went for a snack in the kitchen and saw him coming into the house and started hitting him in the head with a frying pan. The other two joined in until they knocked him unciousness. He later tried to sue for damages (which is what put it in the news) but did not win the case (thank goodness). If I caught him breaking into my house (I have a 13 year old daughter) he would not leave alive. I would be too afraid that either a)I might only slow him down or b) he may only be wounded and then what if he comes back later for revenge. If it wasn't for my daughter my goal would be to just get away, but once you have a child in the house, there is just too much risk. I would probably spend the rest of my life in prison afterwards.

>>I wish they'd clarify in the UK. The govt keep saying you're allowed to use "reasonable force" on a burglar but won't say what that means: going upside his head with a baseball bat or getting him in an arm lock. Recently they said that no-one is likely to be prosecuted for battering the burglar, so long as you don't jump repeatedly on his unconscious head, but are you allowed to put him unconscious?

>>>There has been a lot of talk about the new gun law in Florida. However, I think the bill actually specifies that it must occur within the confines of the dwelling. I think it was meant for self-protection during home invasions but it certainly may be able to used in a wider range of scenarios. I do think it mentions dwellings and vehicles though...

- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
