It started years ago as a DBF only program. Overgrew DBFs (2GB barrier) in 2004 so we changed to SQL Server but left the whole nightly batch process as is in a DBF. The only changes were done to read from the history (big) table to check for possible duplicates.
To do an INSERT INTO for each record was slow and created SQL Log problems. A batch DTS every day solved the problem nicely.
