I'm in agreement with you there, and I thought your initial reply to Kevin's post regarding interop training was right on point. If I'm not mistaken I think I saw Ken Levy express interest in that area as well.

Fact is, there are interop sessions out there. I'm planning on taking some at the DevTeach conference as well. I think they're being put on by Claudio and Les. If there were a pre or post conference session on Interop (where they speakers could go deeper in detail) I probably would have opted for that. However, I'm sure I will pick up very valuable things in Kevin's seminar as well. We have many in-house utility applications and perhaps I can "convert" all or part of some of those applications to .Net, where appropriate of course.

While .Net is a FAR, FAR ways away from being even thought of as our primary tool, I'm always up to using the "best tool for the job". If .Net proves to be the "best tool" for certain areas of our operation then so be it. It seems to me that there is too much focus on .Net for it to pose no advantages.

Finally, yes, CONSTRUCTIVE criticisim should always be accepted. However, many times the "CONSTRUCTIVE" portion is removed and that should never be accepted. For instance there is nothing CONSTRUCTIVE in "Personally, what I'd like to see you do is stop actively trying to destroy a great language and great community" as well as there is nothing CONSTRUCTIVE in "What a moron!!!!!! Personally I'm offended by folks with under 50 IQs posting on this forum"

Aloha,

James

>Which begs the question: why not more interop training? Why not more on using the tools together instead of conversion? It wouldn't be that they're interested in more consulting bucks, would it? I would guess that there's a fair amount of developers like you that would find interop training/techniques more useful.
>I don't have any problem with anyone posting info here, but, on the other hand, they shouldn't have any problem with constructive criticism either...

>>We work nearly exclusively in FoxPro. Trying to accomplish in .Net what we do in FoxPro daily would be very difficult to do. However, I am interested in the .Net movement and what it has to offer. Thanks to Kevin posting his conversion seminar here I now know about it and have signed up for his DevTeach pre-conference sminar. Actually thanks also to the bunch of over reacting people that keep posting to the topic which keeps it alive and right at the top.
