Thanks Alex, I will investigate this DTS Com approach. In our application USERS initiate a file transfer for eventual inclusion into the SQL Server database. These users will be "remote" and I intend to use .NET for this solution.

>I didn't. For security reasons the servers are behind a firewall. The client runs the program that creates the batch. This workstation does not have easy access to DTS. We have a computer center manned 24x7. It was much simpler at the time to add a another task to their job to have them run this DTS at a specific time.
