The first guy is certanly dumb because there're only 2 black hats. :)

>I know the answer too, but I came up with it differently. In my solution the 2 guys in the back aren't smart enough to figure it out. The guy in the front looks in the bin that used to have 5 hats and sees what's left. It's the 2 white hats and he says "Hey, we're all wearing black hats."
