Perry,

I've told you before that I don't need the lecture about VFP's direction. Look in the wiki, the archives or wherever you like, I started saying all this stuff almost a decade ago.

I use VFP where it is approproiate. In my judgement there are lots of circumstances where that is the case. MS agrees with at least one of them and I'm waiting to see how they address it. In 2005, I continue to use VFP for such work because that makes most sense.

As you note, VFP is not a religion but it is a valuable asset to all those who invested time and effort to learn it. If such people perceive advantages or niches where VFP makes sense, you have to expect that some will want to defend their investment when others trash it. This is human nature.

IMHO all the scoffing and name-calling is pyrrhic. You may win a battle of words or completely trash somebody, but that does not assist progression towards dotNET which I understand you espouse as your goal. Surely we can agree on that.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
