The programmers are not always the decision makers. However, plenty of real programmers and managers are "real" enough to realize that they could benefit from mentoring, training, project management, infrastructure development, and so forth, from people who HAVE delivered successful projects.

When it's done - we need a before and after "show" to see what this was really all about.

We could have a situation where the original project sucked and the replacement is great.

Or -
The original project could be great and the replacement could suck!

Or -
They both suck.

Or -
They're both great!

MS had a VFP excellence "program" years ago. I am a competitive guy - why don't someone organize a "build-off" where loud mouth braggerts like me (and others) can be challenged.

Announcing the Great VFP Build Off
Come one - come all - if you can't stomach defeat - or you're too vain and a wussie - go, instead, and eat shrimp in Redmond:)

We could have in Florida - wear bandanas on our head - like the guys from West Coast Choppers. Thats the prob - no sex appeal in software development - only arguments about whether Campells chunky soup is better than plain!

I like competition! I like showing off - I like my stuff critiqued and I like making fun of others' flailings (or noteing how cool another shops stuff is - I steal ideas all the time) - I wish I could steal them from VFP developers, but there is no forum for that - so - until you organize a VFP "build-off", I am stuck with stealing interface ideas from off the shelf projects and MS desktop offerings!

Come on Dave - you're a writer - what can you do to show how sexy VFP is?:)

Maybe even a TV series - like the apprentice - software projects are assigned - the lossers get fired (with a magic marker "L" on their foreheads) and the winners get primo escorts to the opera (and a box of MAC tools?) and return for the next weeks competition!

But I fear a lot of us are becoming girlie-girls - too sensative to have our efforts compared with those of others - and it would end up more like wake than a competition!

See what you can do - I love the sound of it:
"The Great American Visual Foxpro Build Off" (Wow!) (c) Thurber 2005:)
