Great post John! If Java, .NET or whatever is your new passion - cool. I do not understand why they can not simply move on.

It is kinda like a guy that dates a girl for a few years and then they seperate. You can either move on with your life or become a stalker shouting out occasional negative comments. Why some of these people feel compelled to force their religious views on other "non-conformist" is what is irratating.

>I agree with you. The fact that it always happens here rather than in a dotNET forum indicates to me that "strife" is the motivating factor for some of these people. Smug, disrespectful posts seem designed to cause problems.

>When I made the jump from VFP to Java, I stopped coming to VFP forums. Seemed obvious to me... in business terms, what value coming here once one moves on... unless one earns revenue by persuading others to follow the leader. ;-) Or takes pleasure in causing turmoil for others.

>Re dotNET: recently I identified what I saw as a deficiency (local data processing) and was howled at by certain "leaders" here. Then a few weeks ago, MS itself identified the issue and committed to address it. Needless to say, none of the "leaders" felt a need to explain their prior position, though they continued coming here to act superior with self-copngratulatory sigs half a mile long.
