Glenn,
I know this is not going to be of much help to you, but VFP 5 is pretty ancient and wasn't much good in the first place.
It's probably going to be difficult to find someone who remembers all the VFP 5 quirks.
You will have very good reasons, I assume, not to upgrade to at least VFP 8 SP1, which, although not without faults of it's own, is a fairly stable production platform.

>Running against a local VFP dataset I am importing some 'people' records from a xls file which I appended to a cursor (create cursor). I loop thru the cursor and either add them or update them in a tablebuffered view of my 'people' table. I have created a temporary index on my view and I use it to determine whether to add or update. (approx 15 k records) after the loop i issue a tableupdate(2,.T.) on my view and it fails. It seems to fail on a different record every time. I have tried to determine whether this is a data issue and i would say it is almost definitely not. When it fails I get an unhandle win32 error and i get kicked from VFP and then the microsoft spyware asks if i want to send an error report to them. After seeing this message approx 5000 in 2 days I would also like to know how to turn that 'feature' off
