Just checked some of my classes where I do this. Here's the order of moves:

- add the new control
- set it visible
- set it to be the currentcontrol
- remove text1

And then I don't see the text1 in the debugger.

A tip: if you're setting your own header, just add it. VFP is very stubborn here, the rule being the highlander rule: there can be only one and there must be one. That is, when you add a new header, it kills the old one; when you kill a header, it creates a default one.
