To reduce errors in new entries, it would be necessary to have a list of major cities, and - if the city is not on the list - suggest similar entries, or ask whether the city is spelled correctly. This must be a suggestion only - i.e. not forced - since it would be difficult to get a complete list of all cities and towns all over the World.

Also, somebody might manually do some systematic revies, and combine similar entries (for instance, in the case of Turkey: Istanbul and Ystanbul seem to represent the same city; the same for Izmir, Yzmir and Yzmyr).
