Control issues include things like maintenance - can you take down the web server whenever you want to? Or can you even intall the VFP runtime on the ISP's web server?
Remote ODBC access with SQL Server or even MSDE over the Internet is surprisingly good, at low levels of users anyway. There will be issues of more work(double-entry of data) if you just use a copy of the live database..
