Montauk Point is the far easternmost point on Long Island. My memory said it was about 110 miles from the Nassau/Queens border -- Mapquest says its 100 miles (160 KM).

When I lived in Queens (left in late 60's) there were a bunch of fishing villages and potato farms. I think that it has become a summer home destination for those that can't afford the Hamptons and is a good spot for summer work -- although I am suspect about caddying jobs. I tried that (albeit MANY years ago) and it was one of those "you need to know somebody and grease the right palm" kind of jobs. Maybe things have changed though, that was a long time ago.
