Assign is a lot like a programmatic change for a property (I'm not assuming, BTW). Access is similar, but fires when the property is read. The great thing is that these methods (access and assign) fire before the actual access or assign. This means that you can keep a value from ever being assigned to a property or return something other than the property's actual value, for example.

The possibilities are endless (at least!). I know we'll see tons of articles and tips on the use of these methods over the next few months.
