As others mentioned, you can use the LogonUser API function. Whether it works depends on the platform, though. On Windows 2000 the user of your application must be an Administrator. This changed in Windows XP SP1. The reason is that LogonUser required the "act as part of the operating system" privilege, which regular users do not have for obvious reasons.
