>Last night I watched the first of a 3 episode series (at least as presented here) by the BBC titled "The Power of Nightmares - the Rise of the Politics of Fear".
It was excellent. Some major points from it
- the term "Al qaeda" was first used by George Bush in a speech, Bin Laden only starting using it after that
- modern radical islam and the neocon movements can each be traced to a single (different!) person
- both the neocons and radical islam incorrectly thought they brought down the USSR because of the defeat in Afghanistan.
- there has been zero evidence that sleepers cells have ever existed in the US
- the US military experimented with dirty bombs in the 60's and new they were not dangerous, since the radioactivity is dispersed quickly. Despite this they wound up the public that the dirty bomb threat was serious
Have you seen "The World According to George Bush"? Good as well.
