>I know the head of a well-known company who has a PhD. He told me, “In my working career I have held 17 different jobs. Nine of them no longer exist! If you want to remain in the high tech industry keep up with technology changes”!

This makes a lot of sense but did you ask him which technology?

Java or .Net ?
IBM or Ms or Sun ?
Windows or Linux?
.
.
.

So considering all of these no wonder less and less students go into that field. No only the field is risky so are the technologies inside of it.

At least when you go into accounting you know that it'll be a matter of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger...

It did'nt change over many years and I'm pretty certain that it'll still be the same for many years to come.

So IT is a crazy field and in on top of that if an enterprise can find workers for a couple of buck a day they'd be the crazy one to not profit from this.

So it's up to IT workers to be creative and find ways to stop this. Not an easy task but doable.
