Good news.
The VFP team has worked hard to make it easy to manipulate data using relatively little code. That is why we like VFP so much. Now that seems to be the VS.NET goal judging from your statement above and others before. Excellent.
Besides a "sort of" native data engine, which seems to be coming (good idea), please consider promoting capability similar to SCAN / ENDSCAN, direct addressing of data while in the buffer (Cursor.Field), and also SCATTER / GATHER, especially with the NAME clause. All save a lot of time and simplify maintenance when the cursor structure changes.
I am glad you have input in the evolution of .NET.
