Unfortunately it is in the nature of man that any new such inventions would also fall into the hands of a relatively few but very powerfull companies who would exploit the technology for the maximum possible profit. It's not the energy source Tom, Jim, et al, it's who controls it. And it will always be controlled by the powerful.
