I think you would have a hard time getting the church to agree to the changes I suggested. I guess if it's not visible from the street, it's ok. Good idea to end the discussion, things like this never get resolved and usually only lead to animosity.

>I guess I thought I answered it, I have no problem with the web sites approach as they are using the same method that the Porn sites use to get people hooked, to deliver a message that may help them get out of their porn addiction. So if you ask me would I have a problem with having my church display a sign that would get sinners to come hear a message that would help them. Then I guess I would not. In fact we have our youth put on a Rock Concert. It is labled as such, but the Rock is Christian Rock and you would be amazed at how teenagers respond. The main question to ask is what are the motives of the Church. Was it to help, asking nothing in return. I think we can end this discussion to say we agree to disagree.

>>Why did you avoid my question regarding having a similar sign on the church? You could have a someone in a Joe Camel outfit, holding a sign advertising a midnight showing of Reefer Madness and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, while neon lights flash "Girls! Girls! Girls!" and a marque that promotes an upcoming concert by Marilyn Manson. Then once their in the door, I'm sure they'll appreciate how it all came about. Too bad church isn't free, or it would be just like the church's porn site.
>>
>>>How do you know what the others who hit the site will do? I am sure you are one of the many who were amazed that the Killer in Georgia was talked into surrendering by someone who spoke to them about God and doing what is right. I believe in the power of prayer and I believe in the work of the Holy Spirit. So if the message can be placed in the main stream that maybe will do some good, I am all for it. All people have a choice, there are those that will chose to read the web site and there are those that chose not to. As for what you think is a trick, you need to take that up with the company that owns the web site. I have no problem with it because they are using the same internet trickery that Porn sites have been using for the past few years.

>>>>The youth group are not the ones being targeted by the site. If someone Googles "porn church priest" and gets to that site, they likely are not in your youth group. And the others are not going to suddenly say, "Whoa! Look what I've been doing. Man, if I had only seen this before." My problem is in the design. Why not just create a site that promotes restricting access to porn for churches, rather than trying to look like a porn site and trick surfers in. Do you think it would be ok to put a sign on the church that said the same thing, just to get them in the door?

>>>>>Your statement 'The target audience is not those already using porn'. I will have to disagree with you on that. The software is an accountability software. So the target audience is those that have a problem and are asking for help. A speaker, that was linked to the organization, came to our church to talk to our teenagers. He talked on various topics such as music, movies, teen sex, and porn. There were those in the church who came to him and declared that they had a problem. The internet was allowing them access to places that they knew was not appropriate. The internet is a good tool and used wisely can help all, but it is also a tool that can lead many people down the wrong road. So these teens installed the accountability tool on their computer and asked for the youth minister to be their accountability partner. We also had teens getting their friends to be their accountability partner. So you see the program is their for parents as a preventative tool, but was used

I am sure that there are people reading this who can be critical that this would work, but the bottom line for me is that porn can be as dangerous as drugs. And anything that we can do to help those who admit to a problem and want help is beneficial.

>>>>>>I respectfully disagree on all points except regarding my error that the program costs something. The whole thing seems somehow subversive to me. If my church had built such a site, I would have definately have issues with it, but if it works for you...

>>>>>>>First; yes they want those searching for porn to come to their site. Second; Yes they do (and I do) think that there are those that will get the message. That is what I pray for and I am sure that is what they pray for. Third; the program of accountability is free so you do not have to buy it.

>>>>>>>>Why does that link, and subsequent site, look like a porn site in of itself? It looks like their trying to entice people to go into the site. Once there, does anyone really think that they will suddenly repent and buy the software? The target audience is not those already using porn, but those who want to stop those already using porn.

>>>>>>>>>Our Church recommends an accountability tool from http://www.xxxchurch.com/ It is called x3Watch. The software loads and logs all web sites visited and at an interval you set, will email you the web sites that have been vistied by the computer. Why I call this an accoutability software, is that we have those that struggle with internet porn and by installing this software they are having a friend watch over their shoulder. The program will also email you if the program is uninstalled or disabled.

>>>>>>>>>>Any freeware that'll do it? I don't want something complex or with lots of bells and whistles, just something that logs Websites visited. That's all I need.
