Just curious why you would want to create a db trigger to accomplish this. I don't think it would be necessary since I don't think you will be having your users directly enter data into you database without using your program. The easiest way would be to create a function to accept the value to encode and the second parameter would be the pattern. This will allow you to implement different patterns for different fields. Just be sure you know which pattern is used to unscramble which field!

By the way, how is Davao now? Traffic is terible here in manila that there are a lot of crazy drivers around the streets!!! One cause could also be the heat we are having here!!!
